5 Reasons Moving into an Assisted Living Facility is a Good Idea Right NOW!

After a year of COVID-19, we should be better able to once again trust and move forward in meeting our aging parents’ needs. If you are wondering if the timing is safe to move mom or dad to a senior living community, you can be sure it is great timing now and there is a backlog for these facilities. The communities that are frontrunners in safety and infection control lead the pack with protocols and vaccine administration. After a long winter during a pandemic, you need to be able to trust assisted living and independent living communities to help you get your parents to a new level of living and care. Where do you start?

5 Reasons the Timing is Great to Move Mom or Dad to Assisted Living

  1. Medical Assistance Readily Available

Many communities have on-site clinical services, medication management, physical therapy services, and many other programs to help your parents get the care they need at each stage of aging gracefully. With safety protocols in place from COVID-19, you can be assured that the staff is doing everything they can to help your parents be safe and get the services they need as they age.

  1. Safe Social Circles

Keeping socializing safe is a challenge, but almost all communities have amazing protocols in place to keep aging loved ones safe and social. After the isolation from the pandemic and a long winter, it is very important to have social time to stay healthy and live with purpose. Many communities have activities in place like card club, knitting group, walking group to keep residents active with others that share a common interest. Communities have worked very hard to have group interaction within the guidelines of the CDC to allow residents to enjoy aging with friends in their community.

  1. Daily Living Needs Handled for You

What exactly is covered for daily living needs? A good example is that many communities have delivery services in place to get medications, groceries or other items to make it easy for the residents. If mom needs her medication refilled, you do not have to worry – the community can have it delivered and keep mom safe. There is also community support with internet, maintenance and other living items that most communities have in place so residents can stay interactive with others and safe. Talk to your community about what they are doing to meet daily living needs and safely for their residents.

  1. Financially Smart

Maintaining a home with aging parents can become a challenge and even more of a challenge if you do not live near them. Financially, it can get overwhelming. It can be difficult to maintain the home and make sure it is a safe space for them to age gracefully and feel like they have some sort of independence. We all know that aging is not easy at times and maintenance of the home and yard is a lot to add on if you are not residing close by. Financially you can get mom or dad to an assisted or independent living community that eases the burden for you, and you know that medical assistance is available to help as needed. The timing to move and feel safe is great right now. Communities have enhanced their safety protocols and provide many conveniences to make it feel like home.

  1. Infection Control Policies Keep Loved Ones Safe

Senior living communities stepped up to the plate to make your loved ones feel safe in their communities. They follow rules and regulations required by the CDC and also others to make the aging population feel safe. In addition to sanitizing and easy access to testing, most communities have easy access to the health department for any additional needs to make all their residents feel safe and their family feel at ease. Navigating the recommendations for dealing with COVID-19 is not easy as they change often, but you can be sure senior living communities are doing their best to make it feel like home and be safe.

The bottomline is there is no better time than now to ease your mind and move your aging parents to a senior living community. Senior Living Options is a great resource to do the legwork for you.
